If breathing involved > prescribe autoinjector to carry at all times (second one to leave at school)

IM injection of adrenaline
Epipen >20kg (Jrn: 10-20kg) (blue for sky orange for thigh)
Side effects, local parlour, tremor, anxiety, palpitations, headache and nausea
First script from ED Physician/Paed/Allergist
Repeats by GP
Can have 2 on authority, any more are private scripts
Anaphylaxis action plan for each epipen i.e. 1 for home/school etc

- (someone call ambulance)
- Remove blue safety from NON thigh end
- secure child and place orange end against lateral mid-thigh (can be through light clothes)
- push until click, hold for 10s
- massage for 10s
- if no response after 5 mins can give a second
- Monitor in hospital until 4 hours post injection
