- Avoid caffeine after midday
- Dim lights 2 hours before bed
- Limit screens 1 hour before bed
- Go to sleep at same time every day
- Sleep in dark, cool (18C) room
- Sleep 8 hours minimum
For night shift
- try to sleep before your first night shift
- avoid driving post nights, use public transport
- wear sunglasses on way home to minimise sunlight in the morning
- Caffeine at start of shift (half life is 5 hours)
