FHx of febrile convulsions (33%)
HHV6/7 (sixth disease) > Inf/parainf/adeno > Rota/RSV. Enterovirus
DTP (on day)
MMR (8-14d post)
Presentation
Seizure
Fever
Simple
Complex: >15m or focal or multiple in 24 hours
Prognosis
No brain damage
1/3 will have another seizure (50% in next year, 40% the following)
Simple febrile convulsion, normal child: slight increase risk of epilepsy ~1.5%
Complex febrile convulsion, abnormal develepment, FHx epilepsy = 5-10% risk of epilepsy
Midazolam if recurrent or >5m
