Teamwork
Leadership - allocate resources and attention wisely (cycle between ABC details.. and big picture), collects information (with you finger – eyes faster than brain), prioritises intervention, checks on results, avoid manual tasks where possible (creates tunnel vision, swap roles if needed). Cycle – reevaluate, avoid fixation – rule out worst case, look for information that does not fit your diagnosis, get a second opinion.
Leadership is about your junior staff seeing you speaking to the ward clerk with respect, it about appearing calm when your feeling uncomfortable, so that those working around you can focus on doing there task confident that someone above them is in control.
Its not about telling people what to do, it about giving ownership for a task to someone and providing them with support to attack it.
Communication - eye contact and by name, active listener, repeat back, closed loop (Meant is not said, said is not heard, heard is not understood, understood is not done.) encouragement, horizontal collection, vertical allocation. Focus on what is right not who is right. what has been done and what needs to be done.

Staff (Identify, Situation, Background, Assessment, Recommendation)
Followership – proactively assuming part of the load (team more effective if lead not having to manage every detail) contributing to plan/troubleshooting
Fosters a happy workplace to retain good staff (thanks all at end of shift)
Many hands make less stressful - (light work physical and psychological)
You alone are small, Your people are mighty Mandela
